SWEDISH MASSAGE
Natural Healing
What is Swedish Massage?
Swedish massage is a whole-body therapeutic massage treatment that works the soft tissues and muscles to help restore health - creating a calming and balancing effect on the nervous system.
The massage therapist will use five main types of massage techniques in a Swedish massage: stroking and gliding; kneading; rubbing; tapping or pounding; vibration
What are the benefits of Swedish massage?
The various Swedish massage techniques, created by the Father of Swedish Massage, Per Henrik Ling, are designed to improve your circulation, soothe your muscles and make you feel more relaxed.
Unlike deep tissue massage, Swedish massage therapy uses softer strokes on the bonier and more delicate parts of the body, and stronger strokes where there is thicker muscle coverage. This adjustment of pressure makes it an ideal massage for relaxation.
Best known for soothing tight muscles and boosting well-being, Swedish massage also offers a whole host of other health benefits, including:
easing muscular strain by flushing out toxins
improving blood circulation and blow flow throughout the body
helping to keep ligaments and tendons supple and improving range of motion
reducing emotional and physical stress
easing back pain and chronic pain
Before you go, check with the spa about what you should wear: the spa may provide disposable underwear. If the thought of removing all your clothes makes you blush, don't worry: your therapist will be an artist of professional draping techniques. The oils and lotions used in massage can stain fabrics, so it's a good idea to opt for something old if you're wearing your own clothes.
As with all treatments, inform your therapist of any medical conditions you may have and tell them if you are -- or just think you might be -- pregnant.
It's best to avoid heavy meals and alcohol in the hours leading up to your massage.
BACK, LEG AND NECK MASSAGE
30min or 45min Treatments Available
Benefits of a Back, Leg and Neck massage?

Releases “Feel Good” Chemicals. A back massage stimulates the production of endorphins, dopamine and serotonin, chemicals that make the body feel good and loosen and relax the muscles. When your trunk, core, and lower back muscles are tight, they can apply pressure on the sciatic nerve root(s) in your lower back. Tight muscles may also get knotted up into small painful nodules, causing trigger point pain.
In fact, undoing chronic knots and tension built up over a lifetime is best achieved with an integrated program that includes exercise, work on your posture and ways of moving, relaxation techniques and a regular program of massage.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Natural Healing
What is Deep Tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).
How Does It Work? Techniques
When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation.
Muscles must be relaxed in order for the therapist to reach the deeper musculature.
Does Deep Tissue Massage Hurt?
At certain points during the massage, most people find there is usually some discomfort and pain.
It is important to communicate to the therapist when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you experience is outside your comfort range.
There is usually some stiffness or pain after a deep tissue massage, but it should subside within a day or so.
Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as chronic muscle pain, injury rehabilitation, and the following conditions:
Chronic pain
Lower back pain
Limited mobility
Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury)
Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
Postural problems
Muscle tension in the hamstrings, glutes, IT band, legs, quadriceps, rhomboids, upper back
Osteoarthritis pain
Sciatica
Piriformis syndrome
Tennis elbow
Fibromyalgia
Muscle tension or spasm
After a workout or bodybuilding
According to Consumer Reports magazine, 34,000 people ranked deep tissue massage more effective in relieving osteoarthritis pain than physical therapy, exercise, prescription medications, chiropractic, acupuncture, diet, glucosamine, and over-the-counter drugs.
Deep tissue massage also received a top ranking for fibromyalgia pain. People often notice an improved range of motion immediately after a deep tissue massage.
What Can I Expect During My Visit?
Massage therapists may use fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows, and forearms during the deep tissue massage.
You may be asked to breathe deeply as the massage therapist works on certain tense areas.
Will A Deep Tissue Massage Hurt?
It shouldn't hurt, but it's likely to be a bit more uncomfortable than a classic Swedish massage. You should always feel free to speak up if the pressure is too much for you.
It's important to drink a lot of water after a deep tissue massage to help flush lactic acid out of the tissues. If you don't, you might be sore the next day.
It's possible that you might feel some soreness the day after a deep tissue massage even if you DO drink water. This just means a lot of waste products were flushed out of the tissues. It should pass within a day or so.
How Fast Will I Get Results With A Deep Tissue Massage?
It's important to be realistic about what one deep tissue massage can achieve. Many people ask for more pressure, thinking that if the therapist just pushes hard enough, they can get rid of all their knots in an hour. This just won't happen.
In fact, undoing chronic knots and tension built up over a lifetime is best achieved with an integrated program that includes exercise, work on your posture and ways of moving, relaxation techniques and a regular program of massage.
AROMATHERAPY
Balance Your Chi
Aromatherapy is a popular practice that involves using essential oils derived from plants to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance well-being. The therapeutic properties of essential oils have been studied and recognized for their potential benefits on physical and emotional health.
Aromatherapy works through the inhalation or topical application of essential oils. When inhaled, the aromatic molecules of the essential oils stimulate the olfactory system, which is linked to the brain's limbic system. The limbic system plays a crucial role in emotions, memories, and hormonal responses, which is why certain scents can have a powerful impact on our mood and stress levels.
Here are some ways in which aromatherapy can help with stress relief:
1. Relaxation: Many essential oils, such as lavender, chamomile, and ylang-ylang, are known for their calming and sedative properties. Inhaling these oils or using them in a diffuser can promote relaxation and help alleviate stress and anxiety.
2. Mood Enhancement: Citrus essential oils, such as orange, lemon, and grapefruit, are known for their uplifting and energizing effects. They can help improve mood, boost positivity, and reduce symptoms of depression.
3. Stress Reduction: Essential oils like lavender, bergamot, and frankincense have been shown to have stress-relieving properties. These oils can help lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and induce a state of relaxation.
4. Improved Sleep: Aromatherapy can be beneficial for those struggling with sleep issues due to stress. Lavender and chamomile essential oils, when diffused or used in a bedtime routine, can promote better sleep quality and relaxation.
5. Headache Relief: Peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils are commonly used for relieving tension headaches and migraines. These oils have a cooling effect and can help alleviate pain and tension.
It's important to note that while aromatherapy can be a helpful complementary approach for stress relief, it is not a substitute for professional medical care or treatment. If you have a specific health condition or are on any medications, it's best to consult with a healthcare provider before using aromatherapy.
